The GAP Year programme is a randomised control trial and works at all levels of the socio ecological model seeking to address adolescents’ health, education, social and economic assets in high schools as they progress in education. This study started in 2017 and has enrolled over 2886 learners in 25 schools across three sites in South Africa with a retention rate of over 80%.
PAVING, a project led by Wits RHI, addresses community attitudes, norms and behaviors that result in gender inequality, violence and increased vulnerability for women. By supporting community based organisations (CBO) in Ekurhuleni and uMgungundlovu districts, PAVING provides technical assistance and IEC materials to create awareness and interest for the 16 days of Activism campaign.
